RIM falls Short of Revenue Numbers

This has me wondering if they are starting to feel the pressure from Apple and Palm.

RIM said revenue for the current quarter is expected to be in the range of $3.6 billion to $3.85 billion — short of the $3.95 billion analysts were expecting.

They say their market share has certainly increased

RIM has said its market share of the U.S. smart phone market had grown to 55 percent by mid-June, from 40 percent about six months earlier.

I think this might be due to Verizon literally giving away Blackberries for free. That has to slowing down sales somewhat. Also the Palm came out of nowhere to sell their Pre's but who knows how many went out the door. In any case, every Pre sold by Sprint *might* be at the cost of a Blackberry from RIM.
