CBS Sticks With Couric

Why they are doing it though seems to smack more of ego then anything else. They don't want to look like they made a mistake so they are sticking with her even though ratings are poor. However I didn't know they were this poor:
McManus said CBS is disappointed by the ratings -- not only are they
down from Schieffer's tenure, but they've also been historic lows for "CBS
Evening News" -- but they're not dwelling on it.

Historic lows sounds pretty serious to me. If she was a pro quarterback they would have benched her in favor of the rookie. I people that watch the evening news (it seems they are retirees mostly) like their news coming from a folksy guy like Schieffer. They don't like a reactionary like Couric injecting opinion in with her reporting.

I hate how Couric asks those statement style questions all the time. For instance "Mr. President, the Iraq war is the worst defeat in American history, Osama Bin Laden has been elected President of Pakistan, and America will be destroyed in the next few years how do you feel about that?" I couldn't stand her on the Today Show and haven't watched the CBS Evening News since she has been there.
