In brief remarks at the White House, following a trip to the Japanese Embassy to express his condolences, Obama also sought to assure the nation that the disaster currently posed no threat to the United States.
"We do not expect harmful levels of radiation to reach the West Coast, Hawaii, Alaska or the U.S. territories in the Pacific," Obama said, repeating the remark for emphasis.
Wow, a trip to the Embassy nearly a week after the crisis first hit. This is perhaps our 3rd closest ally and only now does he actually show any kind of emotion on this thing. He is also going to ask Nuclear Regulatory Commission to analyze all the nuclear plants in the US for safety. Can't this wait until the Japanese gets this crisis under control? It just smacks as reactive to me for some reason.
