That is according to this recent study:
Denmark is the happiest nation and Zimbabwe the the most glum, he found. (Zimbabwe's longtime ruler Robert Mugabe was sworn in as president for a sixth term Sunday after a widely discredited runoff in which he was the only candidate. Observers said the runoff was marred by violence and intimidation.)
It seems that one of the reasons why we are stuck in 16th is because of baby boomer angst.
A survey released last week found one reason America doesn't top the list: Baby Boomers are generally miserable compared to other generations. Further, a public opinion poll released by the Pew Research Center in April found that 81 percent of Americans say they believe the country is on the "wrong track." The response is the most negative in the 25 years pollsters have asked the question.
You know why they are miserable? The universe no longer revolves around them. Of course America is on the "wrong track" whatever that means, because they are no longer the center of attention in the world. Their music is no longer relevant, their candidate (Hillary) was soundly defeated, hardly anyone cares about their old war and peace movements (Vietnam,) and race warfare is almost a dead issue.
Obama represents the first post boom leader and he is always talking about not fighting their fights or engaging in their debased form of party warfare. He still engaged in their class warfare though but that is the liberal in him. I think this Baby Boomer sudden irrelevance is why Obama being friends with a former Weather Underground terrorist doesn't resonate with anyone at all.
