@Target Feels a Boycott Backlash to the Tune of Millions

I guess this is why corporations need to keep their mouths shut for the most part.
The boycott cost the company millions in lost sales and added expenses. Shopper traffic and same-store sales started sliding for the first time in years after the blog post, and the company was forced to spend $20 million installing single-occupancy bathrooms in all its stores to give critics of the policy more privacy.
What they should have done is quietly allowed the program or simply looked the other way if transgendered people wanted to use the toilet of their choice. Target probably would not have faced much a complaint this way. Whenever a company beats their chest like this and calls attention to themselves politically they have to face the consequences.
