date on that promise? When you borrowed money to buy your house did you
say, 'Oh geez. That mortgage? That was 10 years ago. You're still asking
me for money?' You make a commitment, you make a commitment," says
Norquist.
Did he just compare not hiking taxes to a marriage? Also that mortgage comment doesn't make sense when circumstances change. For instance a person would be a fool to keep the same mortgage as they had 10 years ago if it was possible to refinance it. If economic conditions change then you have to change with them. If taxes need to be hiked then just do it so it doesn't effect the vast majority of Americans. It is better than building up trillions more in debt.
