House Passes Anti-OPEC Legislation

It looks like the House is going to shoot itself directly in the foot by passing some anti-OPEC regulations.

"This bill guarantees that oil prices will reflect supply and demand economic rules, instead of wildly speculative and perhaps illegal activities," said Democratic Rep. Steve Kagen of Wisconsin, who sponsored the legislation.

They do know that OPEC might retaliate against US refiners by slowing the amount of OPEC crude coming into our country. Also any actual lawsuit finding against OPEC will be pushed directly back to us in the form of a surcharge. So the Congress would be directly responsible for increasing the price of gas. Sounds about right.
